Japanese psych rockers Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. performing at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, MN. Shilpa Ray and her Happy Hookers opened.

This odd pairing turned into a remarkably good show. Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. melted the faces of their many hard-core fans quite appropriately, given their reputation. Shipla Ray’s sawshbuckly, harmonium-driven music made for an interesting palate cleanser with a psych rock edge. Next time she’s in town she needs to meet a few Minneapolis bands like El Le Faunt. I walked away with Shipla Ray’s album, “Teenage and Torture”, but Acid Mothers Temple’s insanely huge collection of merch baffled and confused me. I guess the that’s to be expected in their genre. Photographically, it was great to be back in the Entry again, shooting in very familiar lights and in a moderately packed house that gave me some room to move around without getting in anyone’s way.
