My second day at SXSW was kicked off in style with Minnesota/New York’s Dearling Physique. While I’ve seen and shot them a few times before, every show brings new ideas, new unique wardrobes and a new theatrical treatment that keeps each performance unique and unpredictable. This show was no exception and, as I’ve come to expect from Dearling Physique, the music and performance were thoroughly enjoyable. Most of the material performed was from a soon-to-be-released EP entitled “Currency” and it left me itching to get my hands on the new tracks.

They’ll be performing at their CD release show at the Varsity Theater on April 16th, 2010 along with some of the best musicians in Minneapolis – No Bird Sing, The Alpha Centauri and Xavier Marquis – and Soviet Panda (of Too Much Love fame) DJing between sets. This is one of my most anticipated shows this year with a killer lineup. For $10 (or $5 with a Voltage: Fashion Amplified ticket stub) this is an incredible way to spend a Friday evening.
